NPI-CE Seminars began in November, 1999 by sponsoring its first CE seminar in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center. As a manicure school, the targeted licensees were nails technicians. However, cosmetologists represented more than 65% of those who presented for the training, causing a permanent change in the format of all seminars sponsored by NPI-CE Seminars.

Today, seminar attendees are routinely exposed to information on sanitation and disinfection; disease recognition and prevention; infection control in the salon setting; how to prepare an apprentice for the written and practical examination, including demonstrations of the "cut" for cosmetologists and practical procedures required of nails technicians. In addition, attendees are given ABOC forms and instructed on their proper execution, with particular emphasis on the forms necessary for upgrade to Manager/Master, Apprentice Enrollment, Apprentice Monthly Report, and the Record of Completion/Application for Examination Form.
